1st place @ Red Bull Dolomitenmann 2014
26.09.2014
One more time the Red Bull Dolomitenmann was a great event!
Red Bull Team’s mountain runner Ahmet Aslan came in on 4th position, making me start my race from the Kuhbodenthörl right behind Christian Amon, Jakob Hermann and Lorenz Peer.
During the run through the rocks high above Lienz I could pass Christian Amon right away. Jakob took off just in front of me and it seemed to me that he tried to play it safe during the first part of the flying to the other side of the valley. I took advantage of that and passed him at about one 3rd of the flying distance.
But I knew that during the steep and exhausting running part which was ahead of us, Jakob would be very fast- and he was. At the beginning of the skiing slope he passed me running…but that was ok as long as I didn’t let him go too far in front!
The race became really exciting now when it came to the second flying part. Jakob again was a little bit in front and I knew that this was my chance to catch him again!
With a perfect second flight, landing and run to the goal, I was ahead of Jakob again in the end and the Red Bull team was in 2nd position overall now!
The final paragliding ranking was:
Paul Guschlbauer: 30:46 min
Jakob Hermann: 31:23 min
Aaron Durogati: 31:34 min
In the end it was my first time on the podium with the Red Bull Team - 3rd place with an overall time of 4:07:57h!
Thanks a lot to my strong Red Bull Teammates!
I’m already looking forward to another great race next year!:)
One more interesting information: 13 of the top 15 pilots were using Skywalk’s Dolomitenmann race machine Tonic!!
